Attendance:
Students should arrive to class promptly and should be ready for the day to begin at 8:45am. Students are required to have a late slip, if they are not in their seat to start our day. Please inform the school regarding an absence. Students are responsible for catching up on any missed assignments.
Homework:
Students are asked to record all of their homework and upcoming events in their agendas at the end of the day. Homework and important reminders will also be posted on the class website: pantaleo.weebly.com. In Division One, there will be many assignments that are large-scale in nature; it is important for students to continue to work on their assignments (even though a due date may be far away). Students are asked to include their parents in discussing what is required in class by showing their agenda before the start of each day. I can be reached by email at [email protected],if you have any questions or concerns.
Electronic Devices:
As per school policy, students are not permitted to have cell phones in the classroom. If they bring these items to school, they must remain in the student's locker for the day, including during recess and lunch. If at times electronic devices are permitted in the classroom (i.e. special events), students will be given permission.
Field Trips:
We will be going on a variety of field trips this year. At times, we may require parent volunteers for either supervision or to drive. If you are available to help with either of these responsibilities, it will provide the students of Division One with more opportunities to learn in the broader community.
Outdoor Learning:
We will be providing many opportunities for our students to take their education outside of the classroom. Rain or shine we will be going outside for a variety of lessons throughout the year, please make sure that your child is dressed appropriately for the weather.
Core Competencies:
As we become more familiar with the current curriculum, the core competencies will be a major lens that we will use to observe student progress. We are looking to employ considerations critical and creative thinking, personal and social responsibility, and communication into our daily practice. For more information on the core competencies, please checkout the Ministry of Education's website.
Healthy Lunches and Allergy Alert:
In order for your child to have the optimal level of energy for learning, please send nutritious snacks and lunches with your child each day. It is also recommended for your child to bring a water bottle to school to help prevent disruptions during lesson times.
There are students with serious nut allergies in our class this year. We ask that students do not bring food with nuts or with traces of nuts to school.
